What is the difference between science and technology? 

 

The difference between science and technology is that the science involves investigation and more knowledge about different aspects in life. Meanwhile, the technology is an advancement of humankind in which the objects, fisical world develops in favour of confortability of humanity. They both are an aspect for develpment but they have different purposes. 

Multimedia Story

For me the multimedia story can be seen as a story that is represented by visual pictures or videos that doesn’t express it self in a written way. It's a vivid story that show the viewer how real is the space inside the story.

Gay Talese

-“I believe that if you go deep enough into characters they become so real that their stories feel like make-believe. They feel like fiction. I want to evoke the fictional current that flows beneath the stream of reality” Gay Talese.

About this quote, I think that the stories that Gay Talese is going to write are going to be non-fictional stories based on reality, as he says he wants to evoke the fictional current that flows beneath the stream of reality. He wants to take reality and transformed it in a fictional story, he wants to take real details such as a character and transform it kind into a fictional character.

2. What is it about the Clutters' murder that interests Truman so much? Why does he believe so strongly that this case will produce a great book? What does its eventual success say about society's fascination with the morbid?

The Clutters’ murder interested Truman so much because when he heard about this, he thought it was stranger the reason for which the murderers kill such good family, the authorities give a reason because the murderers give such but for Capote it seemed weird, he asked himself what really happened in the Clutter’s house. He believed that with a true story he could make a great book, he would show what really happened. Also we can see the morbid within the book of Capote because although he thought about Perry as a good man, the society liked the way in which he was described as a murderer.

4. How does Truman manipulate Perry into trusting him and revealing details about his life? How does this affect the way you see Truman?

He manipulates Perry because he visits him and he gave him things that help him in prison. Also, he heard many stories about his life and he became a real friend inside that lonely prison, so Perry started to trust him and in the same way he started to reveal details about what happened. This affect the way of how I see Truman because in the beginning I thought he really had good intentions but what he really wanted to know was the truth about the murder. 

All The President's men

"All The President's Men" is a very good movie because it refers to a real event that happened in the US. In my opinion the kind of movies that show real facts and help to understand very interesting things that event that is shown. In this case was the Watergate scandal, where the president Nixon was accused to be involved in the spying of the Watergate building of the democrats in the time of reelection. In this movie there are two journalists from the Washington post that never stop the investigation of this crime, they never stop until they find the truth. In relation with the topics seen in class we can say that they based all their facts to make a brief and complete journal with the real facts they were finding.

"My friend is wacky"

My friend is the wackiest person I’ve ever know. She has driven into the McDonalds drive through and placed her order into the trashcan instead of the speaker. Another time she discovered that she had washed her checkbook with her load of dark clothes. (Actually it was a load of multi-colored clothes because she never sorts her laundry). She has mistakenly thrown her cell phone, Diamond earrings, various pieces of her grandmother’s silver, and the bag of newly purchased light bulbs into the trash compactor. I could go on and on, but wouldn’t you agree that she is a completely wacky?

Word: Hyperactive

Telling: “ My friend is hyperactive”

Showing: My friend is the most hyperactive person I’ve ever known. He can’t stay in one place without doing anything, one day we were at the church and he took a pen and started scratching the church wooden seats. Also, when we were at school he had to drink some pills to be controlled and quite because his hyperactivity didn’t let him pay attention, he was failing all subjects because he got distracted with everything and he didn’t stop doing something else. He drew, he played with his materials, he bothered his friends next to his desk, he threw paper airplanes and he couldn’t stay calm. I can describe many moments were he was hyperactive, but with all I’ve said would you agree he is hyperactive?

Truman Capote

1.     What motivated Capote to write?

When he was a child, he was very different among the people he lived with, so that ideas of difference motivate his writings. He was also homosexual and that make him different; although, this became a reason to write in his teenager stages or older stages of his life.

2. What kind of stories did he write?

He first wrote short stories, until graduate and started sending his stories to magazines and when he finally was getting famous he start to write novels.

 

Capote Quote

" Finishing a book is just like you took a child out in the back yard and shot it." Truman Capote

I think that with this quote he refers to the sensation he feels when a good book is finished. I think that when he loves a book or like it, the book is a sequence of interesting events that when it is finished there is a nostalgic momery about the sequence that will not conitnue anymore. Is a bad sensation because the reader finished a very good story that probably he didn't want to finish. In relation with the child, he felt thse same sadness as if a child was killed. 

The Cut Ups 1966

In this video of “The Cut Up 1966” we can see that is used the cut up technique, this technique in my opinion has some post modern characteristics such as rhizome. This means that there is not chronology in the sequence of the video. The sequence is given by different moments, they used in this case many events, each one with it’s own order. But all of them joined together to construct a story that doesn’t have a chronology are like a rhizome. There are different parts to construct the same story.

Within Paul Auster’s text, memory is the faculty that he has of remembering events that had marked his life all along, is the concept is made by a series of events that construct a person. Talking into account that Paul Auster reflects all his memories in his books, especially in the invention of a solitude where he remembered the actions of his father that influenced his life.

3.  Research schedule:

My work is going to be done with my sisters, I’m going to specify in the trips with them. My sisters are older and all of them do not live with me so it’s going to be difficult to interview them. I have 4 sisters; I’m the smallest one.

First I’m going to talk to the one who lives closest and I see the most. She is the 3^rd daughter of my parents, the middle one in the family. I’m going to have bonding time with her and we will talk about the trips. We’ve had many trips together with all of my sisters where we had a lot of anecdotes. The idea with her is to discuss about the anecdotes and refresh them for writing them down. Find as many pictures as we can.

Then in a video call I’m going to do the same with the other ones, to have a very good memory of the anecdotes in the trip.

INCEPTION

How it explores the role of memory?

Inception is a quite interesting movie; it deals with many concepts that are interesting for the viewer such as “dreams” and “memory”. But I'm only going to talk about memory. The role of this in the movie is really important because this did not allow Cobb (the main character) to fulfill its missions. Why this? Because when he makes inception, inside the dream he has a task but when he remember the tragedy of his wife Mal, she appears in the dream and becomes and obstacle to Cobb. The importance of this is to know how memory influences the life of a person, but in this case it’s only represented by tragedy. The worst memory and individual has will construct him as a person, and many of the actions he will or is doing it will be because his memory.

Paul Auster VS Stephen King

Paul Auster in the book "Hand to mouth" shows some struggles he had in life, some story that influenced his life as a writer and that for always he will remember. The he shows his point of view about the money, how the people give value to some paper. He express many of his ideas talking about a man he knew that want to create an economic revolution, trying to stop the idea that money is the most important thing. This man gave all his money to the world and how he lived without money. Auster lived with him and appreciated all he does. 

Then according to this, what Auster writes it’s about his own life experiences. He writes about concepts that he believes that are important for people to understand, such as the existentialism of the money. Also writes about cotidian life.

Meanwhile, Stephen King writes also talks about his own life experiences but he represent his writings with fiction; he wanted to transform reality into fiction. He also adds the terror inside many of his stories, he wants to play with people fear and try to use it in his writings. He also takes part of history and makes his stories.

 The difference between Auster and King is that Auster talks more about reality and existence meanwhile King uses the reality and transform it into fiction. The big relation between this two is that they both write about the life experiences.

This ritual is not very weird as some others, the Buddhists believe that when a person dies it’s of extreme importance because they enter in a trance where they take 4 days to recognize that they are death, when they finally realize this they will see the light without freaking themselves being part of the light and rest in peace. During this, the monks pray for them and his body is burned.

Jewish Ritual

This ritual is very normal. When a person dies, their body should be clean before they put it in the tombstone; there are some priests or “holy society” that cares about the cleaning of the body. They can’t take the organs and the family can’t enter into the room of the cleaning. Before entering any jewish house they should wash their hands. After this process, the body will be covered and it’s going to be located in the middle of some lights. Then, after that they body can’t be alone for a long time.

DEATH

For me the concept of death is a concept that has been given during history, it’s part of the destiny of a person to find the death and it’s impossible to hide from it. As some cartoons and stories show, the death is seen as a spirit who decides whom he takes and in some stories there is a fight against it, although I believe that in reality it’s impossible to escape from it. The death is unpredictable except for the ones who try to find it. Where does it take the death souls? It’s uncertain but according to each religion, each person has the destiny to go to a place. In catholic religion, each person goes to God’s kingdom. It’s impossible to know until you die.
