The Cut Ups 1966

In this video of “The Cut Up 1966” we can see that is used the cut up technique, this technique in my opinion has some post modern characteristics such as rhizome. This means that there is not chronology in the sequence of the video. The sequence is given by different moments, they used in this case many events, each one with it’s own order. But all of them joined together to construct a story that doesn’t have a chronology are like a rhizome. There are different parts to construct the same story.

Memoir

Within Paul Auster’s text, memory is the faculty that he has of remembering events that had marked his life all along, is the concept is made by a series of events that construct a person. Talking into account that Paul Auster reflects all his memories in his books, especially in the invention of a solitude where he remembered the actions of his father that influenced his life.

3.  Research schedule:

My work is going to be done with my sisters, I’m going to specify in the trips with them. My sisters are older and all of them do not live with me so it’s going to be difficult to interview them. I have 4 sisters; I’m the smallest one.

First I’m going to talk to the one who lives closest and I see the most. She is the 3^rd daughter of my parents, the middle one in the family. I’m going to have bonding time with her and we will talk about the trips. We’ve had many trips together with all of my sisters where we had a lot of anecdotes. The idea with her is to discuss about the anecdotes and refresh them for writing them down. Find as many pictures as we can.

Then in a video call I’m going to do the same with the other ones, to have a very good memory of the anecdotes in the trip.

INCEPTION

How it explores the role of memory?

Inception is a quite interesting movie; it deals with many concepts that are interesting for the viewer such as “dreams” and “memory”. But I'm only going to talk about memory. The role of this in the movie is really important because this did not allow Cobb (the main character) to fulfill its missions. Why this? Because when he makes inception, inside the dream he has a task but when he remember the tragedy of his wife Mal, she appears in the dream and becomes and obstacle to Cobb. The importance of this is to know how memory influences the life of a person, but in this case it’s only represented by tragedy. The worst memory and individual has will construct him as a person, and many of the actions he will or is doing it will be because his memory.

Paul Auster VS Stephen King

Paul Auster in the book "Hand to mouth" shows some struggles he had in life, some story that influenced his life as a writer and that for always he will remember. The he shows his point of view about the money, how the people give value to some paper. He express many of his ideas talking about a man he knew that want to create an economic revolution, trying to stop the idea that money is the most important thing. This man gave all his money to the world and how he lived without money. Auster lived with him and appreciated all he does. 

Then according to this, what Auster writes it’s about his own life experiences. He writes about concepts that he believes that are important for people to understand, such as the existentialism of the money. Also writes about cotidian life.

Meanwhile, Stephen King writes also talks about his own life experiences but he represent his writings with fiction; he wanted to transform reality into fiction. He also adds the terror inside many of his stories, he wants to play with people fear and try to use it in his writings. He also takes part of history and makes his stories.

 The difference between Auster and King is that Auster talks more about reality and existence meanwhile King uses the reality and transform it into fiction. The big relation between this two is that they both write about the life experiences.

This ritual is not very weird as some others, the Buddhists believe that when a person dies it’s of extreme importance because they enter in a trance where they take 4 days to recognize that they are death, when they finally realize this they will see the light without freaking themselves being part of the light and rest in peace. During this, the monks pray for them and his body is burned.

Jewish Ritual

This ritual is very normal. When a person dies, their body should be clean before they put it in the tombstone; there are some priests or “holy society” that cares about the cleaning of the body. They can’t take the organs and the family can’t enter into the room of the cleaning. Before entering any jewish house they should wash their hands. After this process, the body will be covered and it’s going to be located in the middle of some lights. Then, after that they body can’t be alone for a long time.

DEATH

For me the concept of death is a concept that has been given during history, it’s part of the destiny of a person to find the death and it’s impossible to hide from it. As some cartoons and stories show, the death is seen as a spirit who decides whom he takes and in some stories there is a fight against it, although I believe that in reality it’s impossible to escape from it. The death is unpredictable except for the ones who try to find it. Where does it take the death souls? It’s uncertain but according to each religion, each person has the destiny to go to a place. In catholic religion, each person goes to God’s kingdom. It’s impossible to know until you die.
